Kithara enters the food logistics sector

Kito

Originally started out as a software manufacturer, Kithara has continued to grow since its foundation in 1996. Not only has the number of employees increased since then, but the areas of business have also expanded. Simple observations in everyday life have helped us discover new ventures. For example, the need to provide food for our employees gave us the idea of setting up a large cafeteria. Its high capacity led to the idea of offering the service to several other companies in Berlin and the surrounding area via our own delivery service.

Unfortunately, since the food packages are rarely delivered on time in Berlin's traffic, our expertise in real time ultimately helped us find a solution: The delivery vehicles were quickly equipped with printers including a labeling function, which fully automatically apply an acceptable expiration date to the fresh food labels and attach them to the delivery just before delivery. For the delivery of fresh salad to the German outlying areas, i. e. the North Sea islands, Kithara has developed a special real-time fresh label printer with seawater suitability for seafood delicacies.

The concept has even attracted international attention: a Chinese company recently enquired about delivering fresh salad boxes to Germany by container. Despite shortened sea routes via the northern route, thanks to the support of an international icebreaker fleet, there are always unexpected delays due to raids by reckless and unrestrained hordes of polar bears.

We are therefore optimistic about global distribution.

Update: For reasons as yet unknown, the consumption of our food at Kithara and various companies supplied by us led to a sudden and mysterious absence of employees, so that the cafeteria and delivery operations could unfortunately not be maintained due to the shortage of skilled workers and must be discontinued until the final cause is clarified.
